19 September, 2022

For the 2020-2023 academic year, Bakhvi HPP has renewed the program of an informal training course within the frame of the social program educational projects coordinated with the population. It is a novelty that since fall 2022 the program is being held not only in the village Mtispiri Public School in Ozurgeti municipality, but also in the newly opened Public School of the village of Chkhakaura, Chokhatauri municipality. The training is intended for 9,10,11, and 12 grade high school students and aims to raise awareness among school students in environmental issues, as well as provide them with knowledge about renewable energy sources and information on career orientation so that the high school students are aware, which professions are in demand today and what choices are available when making a decision on their field of studies.

The length of the Bakhvi HPP training program is one year and consists of eight meetings, including one tour. Meetings will be held once a month. Fundamentals of the Environment and Renewable Energy Module will be led by Giorgi Berechikidze, Head of Forest Protection Division of LEPL National Forestry Agency, Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. About professional orientation will talk Ketevan Lobzhanidze, psychologist, founder of "Insight" group and HR manager. Professional orientation is especially necessary for high school students and aims to help applicants to choose the right profession for future. The meeting on communications will be conducted by Khatuna Iosava, Public Relations expert, invited lecturer of the Caucasus University since 2015. During the sessions on communication, young people will learn a lot about the media, its role and function in the society; they will learn how to distinguish between real and "fake" or fictional, fabricated stories.

"An important component of our educational package is the training course, which we delivered to the high school students of Mtispiri Public School last year. We have fulfilled our promise and this year we have included the Chkhakaura village Public School in this program. I think this will be an important and fruitful experience for the high school students. The high school students will learn a lot about innovations in environmental protection, renewable energy and their importance; they will learn what are the positive factors for the construction of environmentally friendly generation facilities and development of infrastructural projects in villages and regions. Today, we can talk about the experience and I can say that the students and their teachers were happy with the course during the previous semester. Hopefully, the training this year will also be interesting and the young generation will remember a lot from the seminars delivered by our instructors. They will use the material they learn here in everyday life," said Giorgi Abramishvili, Bakhvi HPP Director.

Bakhvi HPP is a company developing Bakhvi 1 and Bakhvi 2 Hydro Power Plants in the Bakhvistskali River valley. The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia has granted the permission for the Environmental Impact Assessment to the Bakhvi 1 HPP Project. Bakhvi 2 HPP is at the stage of preparation of the EIA Report.
