24 June, 2022

On June 23, 2022, at the Mtispiri Administrative Building was held a closing event of an informal training course for the Ozurgeti Municipality village Mtispiri Public School senior grade students (9, 10, 11, 12 grades). Training was delivered within the Educational Project of the Bakhvi 1 Hydropower Plant Social Program. As an invited guest, prominent Georgian writer David Turashvili attended the event and had an interactive discussion with the Mtispiri public school senior grade students. The meeting was held in a Q&A format. At the end of the meeting, the students were handed over David Turashvili's autographed books.

After the meeting, was held a graduation ceremony with certificates awarded to the senior grade school students who completed the full training course.

The training course was aimed at raising awareness of the Mtispiri Public School senior grade students in the environmental issues, sharing of knowledge on the concept of renewed energy, and provision of information on career opportunities.

Giorgi Berechikidze, Head of Forest Protection Division of the Forest Maintenance and Restoration Department at LEPL National Forestry Agency, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, led a module on the Fundamentals of Environmental Protection and Renewable Energy; Ketevan Lobzhanidze, psychologist, founder of the Insight group and HR manager, held a career orientation meeting; Khatuna Iosava, PR expert, adjunct faculty member at the Caucasus University since 2015, held a meeting on communication.

During the Spring semester one more meeting was held. GREDA Deputy Executive Director Iryna Petriashvili, GREDA Project Manager Mata Gordeziani, and Georgian Energy Market Analyst Guga Kupradze led the meeting. The visitors shared with the students their experience in the energy sector, challenges in the process, pros and cons and prospects of choosing a career in the field of energy, and some details of their daily responsibilities. The meeting was held in the format of presentations followed by discussion.

"Based on the overall evaluation and feedback received from the youths, we can state that the course was rather productive and effective. During the Spring semester, the Mtispiri Public School senior grade students learned a lot about environment protection, energy sources, renewable energy and specialties in this area. The more information is available to the youths about the available career opportunities, the easier will be for them to make a correct choice. Our objective was to share substantive information. Today, we have invited a prominent contemporary Georgian writer David Turashvili, beloved by everybody. He had a very interesting meeting, at which we have talked a lot about patriotism, country's development, and civil responsibility. Today, we have handed over certificates to twenty-three students. I believe the project is a success and want to extend my gratitude to the Mtispiri Public School students for their participation and Principal, Ms. Nana Tcheishvili, and teachers for their support," said Mr. David Mikeladze, Bakhvi HPP ESG Project Manager.

The training course is a part of an informal education that included six training courses and, at the end of the school year, a trip was organized to a functioning hydropower plant where the students had a chance to see the generation facility, Kintrisha HPP, and specifics of its operation. During the trip, the students also visited the Petra Castle located in Tsikhisdziri. The photos taken during the trip have been handed over to the students together with the certificates by the company staff members.
