Based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed on October 25 2021 by the Caucasus Clean Energy Holding (CCEH) and USAID Securing Georgia's Energy Future Program, LED lights system will be installed on the 4.5 km long central street of Bakhmaro Resort. The representatives of the Bakhvi 1 HPP Project, USAID Securing Georgia's Energy Future Program and Chokhatauri Municipality visited the project area. The works on removal of the existing outdated light poles and installation of the new modern light poles will start in the nearest days. The project is a joint effort of the CCEH and USAID Securing Georgia's Energy Future Program and is a part of the Bakhvi 1 HPP Project's social program.

"We are pleased that together with the USAID Securing Georgia's Energy Future Program we have been able to turn the idea into a reality in such a short period of time. We worked hard on this as we wanted to carry out a project that would be innovative and sustainable benefiting the region but also addressing global challenges. LED technology is a long-term and environmentally friendly lights solution with low and efficient electricity consumption. Modern and environmental technologies are a novelty for the region and we are glad that with the USAID Securing Georgia's Energy Future Program we are carrying out this project in Bakhmaro Resort beloved by everybody," said Mikheil Nibladze, CCEH Director.

"USAID Securing Georgia's Energy Future Program closely collaborates with the private sector to promote rational consumption of clean and renewable energy sources, investment, sustainable energy, introduction of modern and innovative technology. We welcome CCEH's approach, which, in parallel to investment in the renewable energy sector, carries out different social and innovative projects. We are pleased that as a result of our collaborative effort the arrangement of the energy efficient lights system on the central street of Bakhmaro Resort has now moved to the implementation phase and in several months we will be able to successfully complete this pilot project," said Ivane Pirveli, Acting Chief of the USAID Securing Georgia's Energy Future Program.

USAID Securing Georgia's Energy Future Program and CCEH partnership implies facilitation of the advancement of the Georgian energy sector and achievement of sustainable outcomes. A purpose of the joint approach is encouragement of the innovative ideas and projects in Guria, which will facilitate growing investments in the private sector, as the objective of the collaboration is improvement of energy infrastructure and development of new generating sites in Georgia.
